My grandma loves pictures, especially of her great grandbabies so we created the longer DVD version of my 30 second clips and here it is...

Introducing new kittens....
Lily had kittens!
Eric and I woke up to the a quiet, tiny little meow about 2AM and found Lily Belle under our bed having her kittens. At first look I was sad because all I saw at first were the two that didn't make it. Eric tried to reassure me that they were ok but after several minutes and checking on her they did not move. I left him to take care of them, I couldn't do it.
She has two little kittens that seem to be doing well and are nursing, stretching and crawling around. I am trying to get a couple good pics with out disturbing them so I'll be posting a couple later today.

Wind, Rain and Flooding, Oh my!
So Ike, or what was left of him, made it through the St. Louis area yesterday. I woke, about 6:30 am, to torrential down pours and severe winds Sunday. It lasted a few hours and after our eventful Friday and experience with water Eric and I were both a little less adventurous in getting out and about with the nice rental car we have. There were reports on the news of evacuations in north county and flooding in homes as well as on the roads. Finally around 10am the rain stopped and by Noon the sun was shining and the rest of the day was gorgeous! The girls and I took a little drive around the lake to see what damage was done since just on our street there were trees down and branches everywhere. The lake was significantly up and there was quite a bit to see. Docks were underwater, a boat sunk and some drifted away from their slips. There were lots of ducks and geese out enjoying the expanded lake so the girls and I enjoyed watching them.
Here is a pic of the boat under water at a spot near our house and a dock which is under the water but you can see the top and the lamp post.
Eric's mom reminded him of a saying and we heard in on the news several times over the course of the day..."Don't drown, turn around". Jenna recited it to us all day, yep, gotta love hindsight:) While on my way home from dropping the girls at my Grandma's house for a sleep over I ran into several roads with water on pavement, one of which was closed so I was forced to turn around but the other had cars passing through...not me! I sat and waited until all cars passed and turned my happy tush around to go all the way around, not chancing that again! We should hear today from our Insurance company about the next steps, hopefully it is all good news from now! I have started a job search again as well. I have sent some resumes and looking for a full time position while business is growing so I can build up a safety net faster. Maybe Eric will get a huge raise too, he deserves it! He participated in a tasting on the River in Grafton, IL Saturday and the crowd again cleaned him out of food after going back for 2nds, 3rds, and more. They were raving about him and seemed to be creating some buzz for Carpenters.

Seriously another new engine?!
Don't you think two in a lifetime is MORE than enough to replace an engine in a car, try two with in 2 years! We opted to not replace the Explorer's engine and bought a 2007 for reliable transportation in 2006. I have to quit with my words, I just mentioned the other day that even though I would love to sell the Saturn we purchased Eric does need a reliable vehicle to get him to work. There I go again setting myself up!
Friday 9am Eric calls, he is supposed to be at work but instead he is sitting on the side of the road after driving through a large body of standing water in a small town between our house and the restaurant. The car stalls and the rest is a chaotic, mess of a blur. Some nice residents of Shipman, IL (FYI ALWAYS go the speed limit in Shipman) helped Eric pull the car out of the water. Poor guy was completely soaked head to toe and now waiting, hoping that he just needed to give the car some time and it would start right up...1.5 hours later still nothing except and awful noise signaling that it wasn't moving anywhere on its own. So, I began calling all mechanics and tow crews to see who could get in the car ASAP. Being a Friday and Eric stuck at work with no transportation increased the stress level but we should be used to this by now, don't you think?! Finally in the afternoon I found a guy to get it in immediately and a tow truck to pick it up. Then the dreaded phone call...from Coats Auto Body...Cliff calls and I am so excited knowing he is going to say Amy, it started right up for me, however instead as I say hello I hear Cliff say Amy, you need to call your insurance company, you have a broken crank shaft and you need a new engine. Yep that's right, here we go again. A new what?! This is a 2007! I am so overwhelmed this is happening. We picked up a rental car today, that is not covered under our insurance, so there is some peace but I am just so disgusted right now. Filed an insurance claim and now waiting to hear from Claims Dept. Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for us!
On a lighter note....
Ava has an obsession with shoes/socks. She will find them laying around from laundry or go into her room and bring them to us to put on her immediately, if not sooner! Doesn't matter if there is only one, she sees it and it is on!

And she LOVES her babies...these are the twins Jenna named Johnny Cash and June Carter

Positive Power
I love anything positive and I was reading this from a weekly email I get and think it is so true...
Fighting against something is not a very good way to avoid it. For by your efforts to fight it, you give it more power in your life.
Seek instead to create a positive alternative. Make the negative situation irrelevant by building an even more powerful positive force.
The best response to hostility and anger is not more hostility and anger. The best response is a new vision and energy that will move everyone to a more valuable and creative place.
Choose to transcend the fight, and then you can make your way forward unhindered and unopposed. Take the energy of the situation and re-direct it toward positive, productive pursuits.
When you feel the urge to fight, whether against another person, a difficult situation, or your own weakness, stop and reconsider. Instead of fighting against, is there something even more compelling that you can work toward?
Almost always, there is. And the moment you choose it, you're already moving quickly ahead.

Sick!
Not feeling so great right about now, the whole family is sick! Ava is cranky, Jenna is whiney and Momma is tired. I can harldy breathe and swallowing takes real effort. What I wouldn't give for an afternoon nap today!
I can't live without my Mochas but I can't even get one of those down yet today:(
Ok enough of the pity party, I will survive:)

Neighbors & BBQs
I can't express how much we are enjoying our neighborhood. Compared to our last house with creepy neighbors peeking in windows, calling the police several times and crappy landlords that are worthless make this place a dreamland! Owning our first home has been an overwhelming and enjoyable adventure and we love the lake community and neighborhood. We sure traded up when it comes to neighbors too, the only peeking in windows is when the 5yr old is looking in to see if Jenna has got her shoes on yet to play outside:) I love having a family next door that we get along with and can enjoy good times with! We all BBQ'd last night enjoying the perfect weather. The older girls ran all over and were going strong until we had to pry them apart at midnight. It was so much fun to sit around as families and watch the kids play and have the adult conversation too! Now we just need to get Eric to work less so he can enjoy more! We plan to start doing it more often and the boys have already made plans for Saturday night fight watching, so now it is up to us girls to see what trouble we can get into:)
On a side note I am moving forward with my photography business and I am so excited. I have been getting lots of great tips from some that have their businesses in motion and have made some local contacts, there is a group of us that are going to start meeting. I will be meeting with the SBA for a consultation. My goal is to be up and running and have my portfolio complete in time for Christmas pictures!
